From Sheet to Seat: Robert van Embricqs' Rising Furniture

"The foundation of any chair is the flat surface you'll eventually sit down on. Using this notion as a starting point, I made several cuts in the flat surface and pulled up the different beam-like strands of cut surface. This created the preliminary but already distinct features of any chair: back, seat and legs. The rhythm of the wooden beams gives the chair an organic shape. The cuts are most visible when the chair is still down. But at that stage of the construction, I still didn't know what shape the chair would take in the end. This was determined by the various arches of the wooden beams the chair is made of. Folding the chair into its definitive form, as a creator, I felt a special connection to the material I was working with."

Bottle Humidifier by cloudandco for elevenplus

The design team at Seoul-based design studio cloudandco, led by Founder/Creative Director Yeongkyu Yoo, is pleased to present their latest product design, the Bottle Humidifier. The designers note that the ubiquitous household object is often an inelegant or outright ugly device hiding in plain sight: "When the context of the humidifier as a product is considered—an object that sits on your desk or table for long periods of time—it is clear that design needs to be more considered."

Breil Design Time

An innovative watch design that was submitted for a competition. Instead of the traditional hands, this watch has numeric dials which move. The time is indicated by the marks which line up with the arrow on the bottom. A very interesting way to rethink an old idea

diktat is a range of furniture containing items related to design standards today as chairs, lamps, storage ... ironically on the ambient doom, my work is a satire of the story-telling media.
you will find the presentation version of each product designed and photorealistic, for one narrative and the other direction, the others are descriptive and technical.
playing on a memory now international, each object is a derivative of fantasy turning around its original fonction for light, store, sit ...
taking position against a backward-looking design Diktat wants a range of objects of this semantically committed present.
by advocating simple design it provides a qualitative production and a optimized cost of production.

A case that exceeds the ordinary functionality and craftsmanship. This selected premium Italian calfskin leather case brings class and character to your iPad2. With its natural curvature and rigidity, it morphs into a stand with an artistic shape. With almost an infinite amount of angle adjustments, it is not only smart, it is brilliant. With the combination of premium Italian leather and metallic buckles, the creation of Arc Cover is the living testimony of EVOUNI’s devotion to exceeds all others.

THE SUPER BUS – FROM HOLLAND TO UAE

Yes, it’s not a train and its not a bus, its a Super Bus. A high-speed, Eco-friendly, state of the art motor vehicle, designed for public transport, offering luxury and ease to business commuters and tourists. The electric-powered cross-over between a race bus and a limousine is being developed at the Delft University of Technology in Holland under the direction of Professor Wubbo Ockels, who in 1985 became the first Dutch citizen in space, part of the shuttle Challenger crew, and is designed by Antonia Terzi, an Italian aerodynamicist who has worked for the Ferrari and Williams Formula One teams.

Side Effects of Technology

New York City public schools have a citywide ban on cell phones, and I'd heard there were bodegas that offer daily "storage" to students for a small fee. It's a good deal for bodegas--assuming they don't get targeted and robbed--as cell phones don't take up much space, and the twice-daily student traffic probably provides a modest boost in sales.

Anthropomorphic + Futuristic = Fantastic Floating Homes

Futuristic, yet, but not the far-fetched science-fiction fantasy industrial design you might think – the Oculus by Schoepfer Yachts may not be for sale yet but it is already in pre-production mode with naval architects on board, so to speak. Hardly your typical houseboat, it is a virtual cruise ship for the rich and famous who can afford to buy it when it is fully planned and built.

Wall Sculpture Made for Touch

Wall Sculpture Made for Touch

French artists Ora-ïto’s entry into the Wallpaper/Reebok exhibition in London this interesting wall installation composed entirely of the natural acrylic stone material HI-MACS. The material was chosen for its thermoforming capabilities that allowed the artist to work without restriction to create this stunning, 3D creation. According to the artist, the visual and tactile effect of sculpture’s surface are a representation of the “iconic sneaker soles” of the Reebox RealFlex shoe.
