Amidst the innovative inventions out there, here is the Wrap-around BlackBerry concept which could appeal to fans of RIM handsets. This conceptual design has been developed in two versions wherein one boasts of a candy bar form factor and the other, a slider smartphone.
This phone concept has been showcased online by Yanko Design and was created by designer John Anastasiadis. The BlackBerry device envisioned by the creator would not bear a conventional touchscreen display as its whole body would serve as a display, giving users easy access to all the icons and functionalities of the RIM handset.
Designer John Anastasiadis, explained, “The front and back cameras are positioned underneath the screens. When needed the area around the camera lens becomes transparent. The wrap around screen can allow for separate workspaces and/or a more three-dimensional interaction with the device. Obvious benefits apply to business, entertainment and navigation applications.” Although a variety of such concepts have been developed for Android or iOS devices, this is one of the rare times when a BlackBerry design has emerged. The new screen technology that the concept smartphone would feature is flexible, transparent and lightweight. The smart ‘wrap-around’ functionality is capable of differentiating between a real command and a hand merely holding the gadget.
The Wrap-around BlackBerry concept may not be commercially produced in the near future but fans of the RIM handset can keep their fingers crossed and await an official word on this device.
