Coca Cola Freestyle
I saw one of these the other day in a Five Guys, and it is one of the most interesting machines I've used in awhile. The Coca Cola Freestyle is a soda machine that was originally introduced in 2009, but is now gaining more widespread adoption. The body was design by Pininfarina, the company that has designed some of the most iconic Ferraris. You select the drink you want on the touch screen, then place your cup in the stainless steel opening and press the pour button to operate it. An interesting detail is that there are buttons on the lower part of the machine that allow handicapped users to easily use the machine. These machines use a new mixing system for soda that uses small VHS size cartridges for syrup instead of the bulky 5 gallon bags traditionally used. This allows the machine to have 110 flavors on tap instead of 6 to 8. Keep an eye out for one at your favorite restaurant; it is a very well integrated piece of design that is quickly being adopted.
